Extend Mac PowerBook Pro with a Serial Port

One really important feature for me is a COM port. I mostly use it to access and configure headless computers or servers. Since i’d like to by a MacBook Pro i’ve called the appleshop support. They didn’t know of any working solution and told me to my a HP or IBM :-/

Anyway, I found one at http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/USA19HS/.

I’ll see if its working 🙂

UPDATE: 11.04.2006 Just got the thing. It is working (at least under linux). After plugging in it will be recognized by the kernel and USB-Hotplug-thing as:

/dev/ttyUSB0

just great!

PS: Of course it also works under MacOSX with the appropriate driver: http://www.keyspan.com/downloads/homepage_pn_usa19hs.spml
